ONE DAY LATER

15th November 2021

Grant Dilloway bides his time on the Essex Manor to bank two mega carp in one night’s angling, using our Manilla, Fluoro and Bloodworm range!

Being a weekend angler is a tough old game these days, especially on busy day tickets and circuit waters. It can be frustratingly difficult to get on the fish at times, especially late on a Friday evening. Sometimes it could be worth waiting until the Saturday, as many anglers only fish one night a week, which could also mean you get into a decent swim! Grant Dilloway was forced into this situation, and rather than waste two nights in the wrong swim, he decided to wait until the morning to fish a more productive swim.

These Fluoro hookbaits really stand-out and offer a perfect blend of both instant and prolonged attraction thanks to a unique blend of liquid flavours and powdered fruit palatants.

Grant revealed:

“After getting down to the Manor after work on Friday as always it was a busy evening, but I knew where I wanted to roughly be to get in the zone the fish were holding up.  Unfortunately, there was no chance of getting anywhere near that area of the lake on Friday, so I wondered to the other end and sat looking for the evening hoping to see some signs, but I didn’t see a thing. I ended up spotting a few down in the area I wanted to be in and after wondering down, my predictions appeared correct. I set sail home, knowing some anglers were coming off the following morning so I hatched a plan to return before first light.

“I arrived again at 5:30am, put my rods behind my desired peg and after observing the lake that morning my hopes were high with signs of carp still in the area. As soon as it became available late that morning, I hastily set my traps in previously known presentable spots in the area causing little disturbance. Then, I topped off with a good helping of crushed Manilla, Manila Active 12mm and Bloodworm Pellet whilst using match the hatch dumbells with small cut up pieces of Mulbz pop-ups to balance off.

“It wasn’t until the early hours the following morning when I was awoken with a very twitchy finicky bite causing me to promptly stick my waders on and rush down to the rod. I lifted into a powerhouse of a carp, and after an epic battle out in the lake with the water to the brim of my chesties, I slipped the net cord under a huge common.

“I was ecstatic and couldn’t believe the big common of the lake was mine as I realised what I had within seconds. I caught my breath and proceeded to set up my self-take gear. She swung the scales to a very pleasing 45lb 4oz and I managed to get her up for some shots. Whilst holding her up, I had a few bleeps on my other rod and I was in two minds what to do! I quickly rattled off the shots and took the fish to the water to release her and I could see my line had gone bowstring tight! I let the common go and lifted into the other rod to find another one on the end!

“Another epic battle ensued, and I was soon greeted with another big carp in the net, this one was a known mirror called The 88, due to the unique scale pattern. It was a lovely mirror that pulled the scales to 39lb 2oz. I took some self takes again and she was also on her way. I topped up the spots and got the rods back out but nothing else evolved throughout the night. What a night and I went home late Sunday morning a very happy angler!”
