A SLICE OF FORTUNE

Adam Francis tops a session on the Essex Manor with two lovely carp, topped by Mr Kipling at 44lb 7oz!
The mega carpy conditions that swept the UK over the past couple of days certainly saw the carp wake up in many venues around the country. The Essex Manor kicked into life too and Adam Francis was on hand to reap the rewards of the big weather front!
These Fluoro hookbaits really stand-out and offer a perfect blend of both instant and prolonged attraction thanks to a unique blend of liquid flavours and powdered fruit palatants.

Adam revealed:
“With 48 hours at my disposal, a big new southerly system forecast for the second day and the majority of the lakes’ top end being occupied, it was an absolute no brainer to setup towards the far south facing end, away from the current pressure, and in prime position for the coming weather!
“The added bonus; there were already fish present, cruising just below the surface in tap clear water. Two adjustable zigs were hastily dispatched into the area, and set at a foot and two foot below the surface. The third rod was presented along the deep margins into an area of less dense silkweed, due to the fact some fish had started to come out off the bottom, fairly close to the bank.
“The first day and night slipped away as quickly as they always seem to do, there were signs of fish being present through the early part of the night, but with another crisp, cold and near frosty night, daylight broke with a sight akin to mid-autumn. A beautiful scene of the lake almost steaming with mist, which throughout this spring has been a recurring theme.
“It was a quiet morning, the calm before the impending storm if you will! As morning edged closer to midday, I had itchy feet. With my current swim being very exposed, with submerged Norfolk reeds absolutely covered in floating debris, I fancied my chances far better on the opposite bank for the impending 40mph gusts.
“This proved to be a brilliant decision, as no sooner than an hour after flicking the Multi rig along with a dozen Manilla boilies down my margin, the rod hooped around and the alarm warbled just while I was adjusting the Zig depths on the other rod!
“A brilliant big fish battle ensued, with multiple heavy flatrod runs and lunges, before plodding around close in, outright refusing to give up! Eventually my pounding heart and shaking legs were given relief as the big frame wallowed into the waiting net; absolutely brilliant!
“Although almost unrecognisable due to the increased size and darker coat, this carp, known as Mr Kipling at a healthy 44lb 7oz was my first ever from the venue a couple of seasons ago! This totally didn’t retract from the experience, especially so soon after relocating swim.
“The weather rolled in as forecast; stereotypical ”carpy” big fish weather, and as day turned to night I was hopeful for one more chance before home. This chance came during a vivid dream I could not possibly go into! At around 5.30 am, just before my phone alarm signalled, the right-hand RX beat it to the post, signalling a one toner, resulting in me scrambling into the waders, to be waist deep in a big wind within moments! It turned out to be one of the lake’s new additions, a very welcome, beautiful low-20 scaly carp that will no doubt thrive in the coming years. It was a fitting end to a tough, but rewarding session”
