Matthew Forshaw’s Early Christmas Present

12th December 2018

Having had very little time on the bank lately, Matthew Forshaw made the most of the few hours he had spare before jetting off on his honeymoon, the result, a Mercers Park 40!

Matthew takes up the story: “Having not had much time to go fishing recently, I jumped at the opportunity to squeeze a few hours in before setting off to Australia on my honeymoon. With just two hours at my disposal, I grabbed two rods and the essentials and made my way to Mercers Park.

Upon arrival I sat myself on the end of the wind and rigged up with Ronnie rigs and 12mm Signature Pop-Ups, which I armed with little PVA mesh bags of mixed sized Manilla Pellets. Within no time at all the rods where flicked out onto a clear sandy spot just a couple of rod-lengths out.

Approximately an hour later I saw a good fish show not too far away from my rigs, which filled me with confidence. Sure enough my left-hand rod peeled away soon after! After a long and hard fight, I netted a fish known as The Leney at 44lb 2oz! I was both surprised and over the moon, what a way to kickstart my Christmas holidays!”
