The Quarry kicks the Spring season off with a bang
Douce Twins Hit Ground Running

Chris Douce informs us of his twin’s latest catch from a local park lake
Angling is often an inherited sport; by that we mean most people tend to get out there with either a family member or friend to get themselves on the path to becoming a successful piscator. Chris Douce took it upon himself a few years ago now, to teach his twin daughters, Ayla and Maisy, how to fish. Fast-forward to present day and the twins are out on the bank regularly and clearly know what they are doing too, with multiple catches being the norm.
Speaking about their most recent outing, Chris revealed: “After a brilliant Winter spent chasing various other species, the girls and I got back out after carp. The conditions were absolutely bang on for this venue and as soon as the rods went out, they started ripping! It wasn’t long before I’d cursed myself for not bringing more bait! They really got on the munch and we ended up with 3 fish in two nets and double takes on a couple of occasions. The girls caught an absolute rake of fish and Daddy was a knackered mess by the time he got home! A great start to the new season for the girls; we are now looking forward to seeing if we can beat the girls PB’s on other waters.”
Simple hair rigs proved successful for both Ayla and Maisy, baited with Krill Wafter hookbaits tipped with white Signature Squids. The girls opted to fish over a mix of both Krill and Manilla freezer baits, which had been heat treated with Liquid Liver and then covered in both Bloodworm and Manilla Pellets. These tactics accounted for 17-fish, with fish of 21lb 12oz and 18lb 6oz being the pick of the haul.
