A Church Lake Check In From Simon Kenny
5th June 2018
What a season it’s turning out to be for Simon Kenny! In his last three visits to RK Leisure’s Church Lake he has had a grand total of 36 bites, amongst the 36 were 12 forty pounders and the lakes largest resident, Fingers, at over 50lb! His latest visit to the iconic Horton venue saw him land a total of 10 fish including three fish over the 40lb mark.
When we caught up with Simon this is what he revealed: “With my previous two hits having both come from the Plateau swim, it was obvious that I was very keen to fish here again Luckily the swim was set to be vacated on the Sunday ready for me to drop in for a total of 96 hours. So whilst I waited for the swim to be vacated I set about prepping rigs and wrapping the rods up ready for what I hoped would be another eventful session.
Once the swim was available I was quick to move in and get myself established. I target the prominent plateau at 45-yards range where I baited with mixed sized Manilla boilies soaked in plenty of Cloudy Manilla Liquid, to this I presented 16mm Manilla White Ones pop-ups. It didn’t take long to get amongst the fish, my first bite coming just hours after getting the rods out. Over the course of the next four nights I banked 10 fish including three forty’s, Guzzler at 44lb 6oz, Tash at 44lb 8oz and Scar at 48lb 12oz. This really is turning into the season of a lifetime!”
